Laser Surgery

The modern surgical LASER is a remarkable instrument. With it, we can remove tissue using high-energy light waves without touching the tissue with an instrument. Because the light waves may be focused, just like the light rays in a movie projector, the areas treated may be isolated in a precise manner. This results in smaller areas of healing and virtually no scarring. Because the LASER seals blood vessels as it works, there is little or no bleeding during and after the treatment. In almost all instances LASER surgery is performed without the need for sutures (stitches).

LASER surgery can be used for many different purposes on the skin and inside the mouth. We use it on the skin of the face and neck to remove a variety of growths including moles and age spots. Inside the mouth, the LASER may be used to recontour gum tissue around natural teeth and implants. It is also used to remove various growths, including many that were very difficult to treat before the LASER was perfected for Oral Surgery.

At this time the LASER has not been perfected for use with hard tissue such as tooth or bone.

The doctors in our office will be happy to discuss indications for using the LASER in your treatment plan.

IF YOU HAVE QUESTIONS REGARDING POSSIBLE LASER TREATMENT, PLEASE CALL 973-376-1144.
